DJI dominates the consumer and prosumer drone market in India in 2026. Here's a comparison of the three main DJI drones available in India — Mini 4 Pro, Air 3, and Mavic 3 Pro — along with India-specific regulatory information on DGCA drone registration.

DJI Drone Comparison India 2026

ModelPriceWeightCameraFlight TimeBest For
DJI Mini 4 Pro₹74,900249g4K/60fps, 1/1.3" CMOS34 minTravel, beginners
DJI Air 3₹89,900720g4K/60fps, dual cameras46 minVersatility
DJI Mavic 3 Pro₹2,24,900895g4K/60fps, triple cameras43 minProfessionals

DJI Mini 4 Pro — ₹74,900

Best starter drone for India. 249g — below the 250g DGCA "nano" classification threshold. This is the most significant advantage for Indian buyers: drones under 250g require minimal DGCA documentation and are easier to fly legally.

Camera: 1/1.3" CMOS, 4K/60fps, 48MP, f/1.7 aperture — excellent low-light performance. Omnidirectional obstacle sensing.

For Indian travel: Perfect for hill stations, backwater Kerala, Rajasthan palaces, and coastal locations. 249g is airline carry-on without weight concerns.

DJI Air 3 — ₹89,900

720g — above 250g, requires DGCA registration (see below). Dual primary cameras: 24mm wide + 70mm 3x telephoto. This telephoto lens is the Air 3's key advantage over Mini 4 Pro — versatile framing for wildlife, architecture, and landscapes from air.

46-minute flight time. More stable in moderate Indian wind conditions (coastlines, hill stations). Omnidirectional obstacle sensing.

Buy the Air 3 if: You want telephoto zoom capability and are willing to register with DGCA.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro — ₹2,24,900

Professional triple-camera system. 24mm + 70mm + 166mm (7x telephoto) on a Hasselblad-coloured sensor. L-D Link 4.0 — 15km transmission range. For Indian landscape and wedding photographers/videographers, the Mavic 3 Pro delivers commercial-grade aerial footage.

At ₹2,24,900, this is a professional investment for commercial drone operators.

DGCA Drone Registration in India 2026

India's DGCA regulates drones under the Drone Rules 2021:

Nano (under 250g): DJI Mini 4 Pro falls here. Registration via Digital Sky Platform required. Operator training not mandatory for recreational use.

Micro (250g–2kg): DJI Air 3, Mavic 3 Pro. Drone must be registered on DIGI SKY portal. Remote Pilot Certificate required for commercial use.

No-fly zones: DGCA specifies permanent no-fly zones (airports, government buildings, borders). DJI's drones have geo-fencing built-in that prevents flight in restricted areas.

Green zone (no permission needed): Areas outside restricted zones up to 120m altitude.

Yellow zone: Requires permission via Digital Sky Portal.

Registration is straightforward via the Digital Sky app — takes 30–60 minutes.

DJI Drone Tips for Indian Conditions

Summer heat: Batteries discharge faster above 35°C. Carry extra batteries for summer shoots.

Monsoon: Do not fly in rain or high humidity. DJI drones are not waterproof.

Hill stations: Higher altitude = thinner air = reduced lift. DJI Mini 4 Pro and Air 3 fly fine up to 4000m (most Indian hill stations are under 2500m).

Battery: Indian power (240V) works with DJI chargers. Always use official DJI chargers.

Bottom Line

First drone: DJI Mini 4 Pro (₹74,900) — under 250g DGCA advantage, excellent camera, beginner-friendly. Versatile prosumer: DJI Air 3 (₹89,900) — dual cameras, telephoto option. Professional/commercial: DJI Mavic 3 Pro (₹2,24,900) — Hasselblad triple camera.
